Active Citizenship and Governance

Young Leaders Network’s interventions ensure that youth actively participate in governance and policy-making processes. By engaging youth in advocacy and providing them with tools to hold governments accountable, YLN works to encourage transparency and enhance democratic processes.

Citizens Accountability Training

The Citizens Accountability Program empowers young men and women through a transformational training curriculum to build their capacity for championing governance accountability. Over 300 youths have been trained in advocacy, governance audits, and project tracking to hold governments accountable and foster democratic participation.

Citizens – Legislators Forum

This forum bridges the gap between elected leaders and the communities. It promotes gender-inclusive legislation and community participation through the creation of community charters and support for local government autonomy.

Inter-Party Youth, Women and Civil Society Forums

Since 2017, this forum has facilitated inclusive political participation, coalition-building, and democratic reforms across 13 LGAs. It’s reached over 2000 participants and strengthened youth, women, and PWD representation in governance while fostering peaceful elections and cross-party collaboration.

Digital Peace Building

YLN empowers youth to promote interfaith collaboration and peace online. Through social media campaigns led by trained influencers, this initiative tackles hate speech, cancel culture, cyberbullying, and promotes religious tolerance across Nigeria.

Quality and Inclusive Education

To address disparities in educational access, particularly for marginalized groups like girls and rural youth, YLN increases access through advocacy, vocational training, and digital education.

Story-Telling Clubs

YLN is transforming the narrative around education for girls through storytelling clubs. These clubs serve as a space for out-of-school girls to hear inspiring stories, build hope, and dream beyond early marriage. Many girls have been encouraged to return to school and reach their full potential.

Adolescent Girls Mentorship Clubs

Through leadership and reproductive health education, over 180 girls have gained mentorship and hands-on vocational skills like reusable pad production, baking, and soap making. The club fosters confidence and life readiness among adolescent girls.

Pad Banks

Recognizing how period poverty affects school attendance, YLN created sanitary pad banks in six schools in Bauchi. These banks provide menstrual hygiene products, ensuring girls do not miss school due to their monthly cycle.

Teachers Training

YLN enhances school environments by training 90 teachers in 20 schools across Bauchi on Gender-Responsive teaching. These capacity-building sessions help foster inclusive, safe classrooms that increase enrollment, retention, and success for girls.

Youth Leadership, Entrepreneurship & Empowerment Program (Youth LEEP)

Young Leaders Network is equipping youth with essential skills in leadership and entrepreneurship. Through training and resources, YLN is raising a new generation of youth who can drive economic growth, particularly in underserved areas.

Soft Skills Training

In partnership with Jobberman Nigeria, YLN is mobilizing and training youth aged 18–35 in soft and employability skills. This initiative empowers youth with essential tools to secure dignified jobs and succeed in the modern workforce.

ILEAD School of Leadership and Civic Engagement

Through the ILEAD School, YLN develops young graduates into civic-minded leaders equipped with leadership, work-readiness, and social change skills. The program targets individuals passionate about community impact and personal growth.

Young Leaders Development Program (YLDP)

The YLDP is a transformative program that equips students with leadership, life, and entrepreneurial skills. It inspires value-based leadership and empowers youth to advocate for themselves and their communities.

Ignite Talk

Ignite Talk is a monthly platform for youth to engage in intellectual discussions, mentorship, and professional development. It encourages a culture of growth, resilience, and active learning among young changemakers.

Ignite Sports

Ignite Sports promotes youth wellness through sports events, fitness challenges, and wellness workshops. It has inspired over 400 participants to embrace health, teamwork, and personal growth.

Climate Impact and Resilience Program

YLN engages youth in sustainable environmental practices and empowers them to be agents of climate resilience. We promote eco-friendly entrepreneurship, sustainable agriculture, and climate activism.

YLN’s climate initiatives train youth to take on leadership in environmental advocacy, support green enterprises, and contribute to local and global sustainability goals. Through hands-on projects, education, and mentorship, young people are positioned as key players in shaping a climate-resilient future.
